There exist long historical, cultural, and economic ties between Bangladesh and the Kyrgyz Republic. The people of the Kyrgyz Republic, as a constituent republic of the Former Soviet Union, supported Bangladesh’s cause during the War of Liberation.

The two countries have shared hopes and aspirations especially in the economic field, to eradicate poverty through rapid growth. Bangladesh attaches great importance to strengthening bilateral relations through mutually beneficial cooperation. Bilateral friendly relations could grow further through enhanced engagements in economic, commercial and investment activities. Closer contacts between the business communities and exchange of delegations could pave the way for further cooperation in these fields. There is also the felt need of high level visits from both sides on regular basis.

Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan have similar or identical view on various international issues including fighting the menace of terrorism.

Both nations support each other in the multilateral arena.

Cooperation in the Economic Fields:

Kyrgyzstan imports jute and jute goods, garments, tea and other products from Bangladesh. There is considerable demand for Bangladesh ceramic products, melamine, frozen food, leather products, shrimps, frozen fish, jute yarn, fiber and RMG products, juices, textiles, pharmaceuticals and fish products.

Bangladesh export to Kyrgyzstan is mainly limited to tobacco, vegetable, textile fabrics, knitwear, woven garments which are exported irregularly and the volume of export is very small.
